My first year

Freely Expressing Myself During my First Year

I have become very vocal. I am able to say a lot of words and can let people know what it is that I want. Some of the words that I can say in the beginning of my first year are:

peek-a-boo Mommy papa (food in Bosnian)
juice eww (shoe)
boon (balloon)
thank you
dog
meow

byebye
ball
moo
hello
horse
oww

uh oh
Daddy
bug (which is usually followed by "yuck")

teeth (I say it after my bath because I know I brush my teeth next)

I go to the park a lot with Mommy since the weather is finally hot enough. I climb around on the slides and in the tunnels all by myself. I really like to watch the other kids play. I also started running around with them. I like to play chase for a little while until someone gets too close. :)

At 17 months I started having my temper tantrums. I like to spit, throw whatever is close to me, or hit whoever is close to me. But it is only a small stage of my life, at least everyone hopes so.

Uncle Gerald came down to spend 2 weeks here with me. He made me laugh a lot and I loved when he chased me around the house. He could never catch me because I'm just too fast. While he was visiting I learned to say his name.

I have become very helpful around the house. I pick up things off the floor and throw them in the trash. I'll pick up my own diapers and throw them away. I put my dirty clothes in the hamper. I also like to help wash clothes by throwing them in the washing machine. Mommy lets me turn all the lights off and on when we enter and leave a room. She really appreciates all of the help I give to her.

I have a favorite song that I sing over and over again. It is Old MacDonald. Someone sings "Old MacDonald has a farm" and I reply "E I O." From this song, I have learned many different animals and their sounds: cow, cat, dog, pig, horse, lion, snake, monkey and for the elephant I put my hand by my mouth and blow. It sounds just like and elephant, you should hear it. Pawpaw Ronnie taught me the lion sound because we watch Lion King together when I go visit him.

At 19 months, I have become a stunt devil. I perform all sorts of dangerous tricks. My favorite is jumping from the chair to my couch. Which, sometimes my couch isn't there, but I still jump. I have done a few front flips off of the couch onto my bean bag. I also climb onto of the back of the couch and roll off. Mom gets really scared, but I know what I'm doing. No worries.

Heading towards 22 months, I am learning more and more words. I can tell you some of the things that I want. I've learned more animal sounds to add to Old MacDonald's song. I really enjoying coloring in my new coloring books. Mommy bought washable crayons being as I like to sneak in a drawing or two on the white couches. At the beginning of the month I went to Louisiana and Mississippi. They had the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival and I got to ride the carousal. It went faster than usual and I laughed and was smiling so big. I had fun spending time with my cousin Lilly. Mom and I stayed in Mississippi for almost 2 weeks. It was nice playing with my aunts and uncles. I went to the creek and played in the sand and water for a few hours.

Daddy and Mommy bought a new house!! I've seen it already, but they are working on it by painting and making the yard better so that I have a safe place to play. There is a really big back yard. I can't wait to move in. Hopefully we will be completely moved in in two months.

I have even more new words to add to my list: bear, monk (monkey), webra (zebra), giraffe and spider. I learned to make a spider with my fingers and chase after Mommie with it.

November 12, 2006 I spent my first night with Mom and Dad in our new house. I was kinda scared when I got there that night and I didn't want to be left alone. Once my crib was up, I didn't want to get out of it. I stayed in it for a good 2 hours before it was time to go to sleep. I haven't had the chance to enjoy much of the backyard yet. The weather has been really bad. Once it dries up, it will be really cold. But Mom will just have to bundle me up in my clothes, because i'm going to run around in my yard whether she likes it or not. :) Nani (my uncle) is painting a mural in my room right now. It has simba, Rafiki, Peter Pan, Marlin, Nemo, Dori, and some other characters. I am so excited about it being finished...hurry up Nani!!

I will be 2 years old in 9 days. Before I turn the big 2, there are some things that I have learned and I want to share with everyone.
I have many new phrases that I say:
Mommie/Daddy are you?
Der is (there he is)
Daddy here
Wade up (wake up)
Youtshide (outside)

I have really been enjoying my new house. The weather has been just the right temperature so that I can play outside in my huge backyard. There are two dogs that I love to play with, Buck and Wonka. I make them chase me back and forth, of course they are on the other side of the fence. I am having a big party for my birthday at my house and I cannot wait to see all the new toys I will get. Just a few days after is Christmas. I already took a nice picture with Santa, so I know he will bring me a lot of things.

This year has really been great for me. I am walking around the stores by myself, I eat everything without any help from adults, I read my book until I fall asleep for nap time, I pick out which movies I want to see, I give the phone to Mommy when I want to talk to someone, and I have been helping pick up all the leaves in the backyard. There is definitely a lot in store for next year!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!!
